About

Surviving third degree burns on her upper torso at the tender age of 18 months seems to have subconsciously left Mahlia with both the ability to empathize with others and a yearning to help those less fortunate in her community. She has a zest for life and is committed to being the best that she can be. When she is not pouring over homework or studying, or helping in school leadership roles, she may be found on the soccer field serving as co-captain and assisting her high-school team win championships; or volunteering her services for charitable outreach, environmental protection, or helping out at church; all while finding time to spend with her friends.

I am very pleased with Mahlia’s magnificent accomplishments, unrivaled by anyone before. She has always been a very studious student, determined and focused and her intellectual prowess is evident in her attainment of 11 A grades and 6 top subject awards. Never before in my career as an educator have I ever seen this level of excellence. I am so proud of her and I commend her, her teachers and parents. I am certain that Mahlia will continue to excel and make every Bahamian proud.
